Visceral gout

Visceral gout in a 6-month-old female Duck. Note the fine stippling disseminated throughout the parenchyma of both kidneys. These millimetric lesions, apparently well-delimited, grate when cut and correspond to intra-glomerular and intra-tubular urate crystals. The percentage of functional glomeruli in this animal was below 5%.
