Chronic nephritis - giant Aldabra turtle

Chronic nephritis and urinary retention in an 80-year-old Giant Aldabra Turtle. The kidney appeared atrophied, firmer, with a deformed surface. The bladder, extremely distended, occupied about half of the abdominal cavity, and exhibited numerous diverticuli in its wall, along with urine and greenish sediment. The urinary retention and vesical distension observed caused great discomfort to the animal, leading to the apathy, anorexia and locomotor difficulties he presented.
