Multiple renal cysts in a case of polycystic kidney disease. Note the numerous cysts restricted to an area of the kidney. These cysts must have formed during renal development, due to inappropriate fusion between the secretory portion of the metanephron and the excretory portion of the Wolff duct derivatives, originating retention cysts.
