Alveolar emphysema in a Capuchin Monkey. This animal’s lungs did not collapse upon opening of the thoracic cavity. The borders of the alveolar sacs are clearly visible in these otherwise normal-looking areas, which correspond, microscopically, to hyper-distended, and sometimes ruptured, alveoli, and which alternate with areas of pulmonary congestion and oedema.
