Mycotic tracheitis and pneumonia in a 16-year-old Domestic European queen. Note the congestion of the pulmonary parenchyma, which appears dense, with emphysematous areas (bullous emphysema). In the tracheal fork, a whitish deposit with black areas can be seen, texture similar to cotton. This exudate corresponds to Aspergillus sp. fungus deposition and proliferation, visible under a microscope as numerous spores and hyphae, which infiltrate and destroy the wall of the bronchi and bronchioles.
