Fracture of the radius

Fracture of the radius of a male 14-year-old, castrated Lusitan crossbreed. Note the jagged bevelled fracture line between the medium and distal thirds of the radius, with formation of multiple bone fragments. The attempt at surgical resolution through application of metal plaques and screws was not successful and euthanasia was eventually decided upon. The neighbouring tissues of the fracture area were strongly congested, oedematous and haemorrhagic.
