Chronic active hepatitis in a dog. The portal spaces exhibit exuberant inflammatory infiltrates that penetrate the structure of the hepatic lobules which cells are predominantly necrotic (H&E, 100x). On the right, the animal’s kidney exhibits intense fixation of biliary pigment in the renal tubules, leading to biliary nephrosis. Death occurred in the sequence of hepatic and renal failure (H&E, 100x).
