Chemodectoma of the aortic body in a castrated 6-year-old Boxer. Note the firm, reddish mass which appears surrounding the great vessels of the heart, particularly the aorta. This neoplastic mass corresponds to proliferation of neuroendocrine cells originating in the aortic body, organized in lobules separated by variable amounts of stroma.
