Petechial haemorrhages in the myocardium and pulmonary artery of sheep diagnosed with Blue Tongue Virus infection. Along with generalized oedema, haemorrhagic lesions constitute a typical trait of the anatomo-pathological presentation of Blue Tongue. The heart is one of the most frequently affected organs, exhibiting multiple petechiae. When present, petechiae in the wall of the pulmonary artery are considered a strong indicator of infection with Blue Tongue Virus and almost pathognomonic of the disease.
