Concentric hypertrophy (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) in a mixed breed cat. Note the exuberant thickening of the wall of the left ventricle in the heart to the right of the image (in comparison with the normal heart to the left), causing the almost complete obliteration of the lumen of that cardiac cavity. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is more common in cats, sometimes connected to nutritional deficiencies in taurine. It may constitute cause of death, due to cardiac insufficiency.
